it's just that i was listening to a song from the band with the name above. it's really a japanese band but they sing in english. but there's more than meets the eye. should check it out la.

in any case, ive seen the photos of both serene's birthday party and huimin & peiyun's yunnan trip. good ones.

it's nice to see the family photos of serene especially. uhhuh. somehow it's like every year from our birth, we almost always have photos chronicling our time on earth. it may not be that every birthday is spent with the same friends. we either haven't met them (like our 5th birthday) or they couldn't make it to the gathering one year, or like some friends you were closer to 10 years back weren't always able to see you on your birthday every subsequent year, and the like. but the family is always there. like a never-changing installation on the stage of one's life.

i enjoyed my many trips to china previously. and it looks like everyone had an enriching time over there. from getting to know the school kids to playing guest at the principal's home. many years ago i envisioned myself doing similar things. i will probably, in time to come. just 100 years ago my great-grandfather (paternal grandmother's father) was part of the greater fabric of china. not just chinese as a race, not just chinese as a way of mother tongue, but chinese in every sense of the word. we have since grown and developed in different grounds, like little seeds sown in a different yet similar type of ground.

i bought the dvd for "legends of the fall" recently. can't get to play it on the laptop. it's probably region-locked. because my laptop is meant to play asian dvds. could be a censorship issue. i've viewed it on my friend's mac though. rivetting all the same, through and through. watched "closer" and "the aviator". both were a good watch. i thought "closer" was a depiction so deceptively distant and intimate at the same time. wonder if any of you watched it.

well well second to be 20, i dunno wat to say. lets just say the things that have happened to me recently had prepared me well for this coming second decade of my semi-charmed life! :) i know this year will turn out fine and its gonna be an interesting and eventful year for me.

and while the past 2 years have been sho tough and even painful for me. days before my 20th bday i seem to have awaken from a bad bad bad nightmare and everything makes sense now. i m ok! i have recovered. and nothing mattered anymore. my request?

has been received by my brother in glasgow about 2 days ago. haha. it took so long probably because of the christmas break. my brother and i were thinking if the postmen in glasgow went on a strike. it actually happens here, you know what i mean.

and in any case, did i tell you guys that my ergor made a trip to india recently? yup, i told you guys about wanting to go to india too right? last time? think it should be good experience. he's now back, anyway.

so how was the yunnan? i guess the gang expects to see photos up soon yeah? haha.

some of the singaporeans in law over here are going to barcelona after the exams. i'm still thinking. may actually wanna do the alternative (eh seng!!! haha.) - go to work at the library or something. shelf books? :) i remember going back to my primary school. that particular visit was in sec 2 i think. so one of my most respected teachers, mrs yip, wrote this on a school newsletter and gave it to me:

"one of the pleasures in life is doing what others say you cannot do."

i hope i quoted it correctly. but no matter what, the meaning of that quote is more or less the above. haha. what do you think? i think somehow my primary school life foreshadowed many things.

oh and it was someone's birthday yesterday. i went to a pub called "the durham ox" for thai food. it was really delicious. la4 la4 la4! i told you guys that i'd cooked very much over the christmas holidays at my brother's place in glasgow right? yeah...i remember slicing chilli and the bean sprouts, etc. next time when i go back in the summer maybe i could whip up something for you guys to eat. of course my mama's cooking will be infinitely better la :)

I have coursework to hand in tomorrow. My room needs to be refurbished 'cos I just "moved in" all over again.

Oh yeah, the calendar page is still flipped ok. I took a slight peep so that I could take the relevant pages along when I went to Birmingham and Glasgow this Christmas. Haha.

u know wat? i dreamt of u guys last night! i dream tt huayu is back and the couple is back! and py and i were talking. she was telling me abt some tuition kid of hers while we were trying out some clothes at some phuture/topshop in some shopping centre. saw xinyi as well! haha.. cos i happened to be at nus at the same time. kinda weird. but yeah.. wat a way to welcome 2005? w you guys in my dreams? sho weird!! but yar. i miss huayu, laoda and py! come home soon!
