FIRST THINGS FIRST!!!! I PASSED MY GRADE 8!!! WITH A MERIT TOO!!!! AH!!!!!!!!!!!! proud of me anott??? hahaha... :)

so exciting right!!! i got a scan of my results slip from my brother!!! fleacia's the first to know!! HAHAHAHAHA.

yeah and so happy lah so happy. to heck with the 2 driving tests ah!!! bwang them also worth it!! hahahahahahahaa.

yeah lah...so sasha is here at nottingham!! i met her for lunch just yesterday!!! haha and we were just talking about how serene will 'ah!!!' at us having lunch...like so qiao3 and all that. nottingham of all places. you know you know?? haha...and don't worry i don't drink any substantial amount at the parties here. in fact, i've only drunk coke up till now. and i've only been to like 1 clubbing thing. not really into it what, you all should know.

tonight there's a clubbing thing for the malaysian-singaporean society and the chinese society. so then there'll be many people from malaysia, singapore, mainland china, hongkong, taiwan and lots more lah. but i'm not going. i decided not to buy tickets early because i always last-minute shuang3 then go. and now it's 7 pounds at the door. and then there's a 9am lecture tomorrow. and you know, after council in jc, i've decided that i want to have more personal time. flexibility and all that. so i'm really doing the things that i decide i want to do, as an individual. after all, i've had a rather full-fledged 'for-the-common-benefit' school life all these years of education. right nott right nott.

ok lah. i need to go and have dinner :) you all must have fun and all ok. i miss you guys too. but again, what's 3 years of physical separation compared to a lifetime together? right nott right nott.

fat poke and short poke

hellohello. serene where got only you blog...see, i also have. heh.

anyway just to inform the rest of the gang who don't already know, li4 qin2 (felicia she's my ex-classmate in rj and here doing law at nottingham too) and i have 2 little pots of cactus now. both are short and fat and friendly-looking. (we decided that they are twins.) mine's called fat poke and hers is called short poke. their cantonese names are fei3 took4 and oi2 took4 respectively. haha. fat poke is now by the window in my room. i will collect him when i'm back this evening.

(oh! pm-and-hy are here on msn!! haha...fleacia and serene i'm telling them about food...starting with breakfast...cos huimin is talking about roti prata.)

so how's everybody? i'm ok i'm ok. going to call my mama later. she called me just now.

i wonder how yimyee is doing with uni. should be dam fun lah. there are so many hongkongers in my hall and the hall opposite. so i try to learn cantonese. go back to singapore that time then can shock huayuan also.

i'm at the computing centre now. it's called the cripps computing centre. my internet connection in the room is not up yet although i've gotten my cable and activation code. so that's why i'm here to try to fix it. will try again with another activation code as soon as i get back to my room this evening.

all right, i had salmon with lemon, and brocolli and carrots for main course last evening. we'll see what we have tonight. heh. oh and when i can't have lunch at the hall cafeteria i can pack a sandwich, a bag of crisps, a pack of juice and a little tub of yoghurt with me. yeah, a little bit on food since tam1 jia4 serene wants to know. hehheh.

hello all! haha i think the last entry was dam funny. this huimin ah, she thinks she's dam funny lor. hahahahaha.

anyway anyway, i was moving my luggage around yesterday. am finally at the accomodation where i'll be for the first year of uni. the complete address is this!

so more about my life. see right i've been doing quite a lot of things but at this leisurely pace. went to beeston for dinner yesterday. it's this eatery called the beeston charcoal grill. and they have kebabs there. it's really nice to eat. quite expensive if you convert the currency and all that. i had lamb shish, which is served with rice.

and now i'm at the library in the jubilee campus. the jubilee campus is really the business campus. there are 3 halls here. melton, southwell and newark. melton is the one with most of the post-graduates. i've met many people already. i was sitting beside a russian girl this morning for breakfast, i went to beeston with a thai girl called pa. pa is doing medicine too. and typing away in chinese characters beside me now is miko. she's from china but did 2 years in uk already. we sang many songs last night, on the long walk back. it was all good fun.

anyhow the library at the jubilee campus is really state-of-the-art. it's smallish but really cool. i like it very much. in fact, i like jubilee campus very much. there's a lake just next to the atrium, which is the place we have meals, and there're ducks and swans here. very pretty. when i get the connection on my laptop soon i'll upload the photos ok. haha.

i'm trying to acclimatise quickly here and right now, it's not too cold so i'm just walking out in baggy track pants and a t-shirt with the big blue sweater with lots of lines. you know you know? i'm even in slippers. so when winter comes, i will be more used to the cold.

i've also learnt how to say 'tree' and 'very cold' in thai, lots of other words in cantonese. i think 'how are you?' in urdu, which is the pakistani national language sounds something like 'heel ma keel'. there's another fellow law student at jubilee campus too. his name is sandeep, he's from sri lanka.

how exotic right. and this is barely the beginning! haha.

freshers fayre (pronounced as fair) is the counterpart of orientation in singapore. it will kick off from tomorrow onwards. the thing with this is that there is no compulsory activity for students to take part in. the element of independence is prevalent. it runs a greater risk of a smaller crowd at an event, but the good thing is that people who want to be there to watch/do something are those who really want it.

all right, will tell more interesting things next post ok. i'll get into the characters here. that'll be quite funny lah huh hehheh.

hello gang!!! haha...i really appreciate the calendar ok...very thoughtful indeed. and no, i didn't cheat at all :) it's tucked into my luggage now, safe and snug until the 27th of september :) right anot.

so guess where i am!! i am in nottingham already. in the library using the computer for the first time! i'm an international student ok. like walaoeh.

have already registered with the health centre here. took a jab for immunisation against meningitis c this morning. everything has been ok. i am well.

miss you guys lah. i hope all is well.

the food here's been not bad. i had fish and potatoes. and they have ketchup and brown sauce (which is bbq sauce i say). i had mushrooms this morning too.

i've been trying to get my applications through but because of the horrendously long queues i have strategised to queue up early before the doors open.

i miss home and all. but it's ok. i'm smiley here too. communication is really advanced. it costs, they say, £60 for a year's subscription to broadband in the room. so it's cheaper than that in singapore.

i've already met very exotic people here. 1 nigerian 1 dominican republican 2 koreans (i told them about korean drama and wonbin and all that very funny) 1 indian (eh don't say anything) 1 cambodian chinese, lots of singaporeans and malaysians of course. and also many prc students too. so quite the cool.

i think theft is rather rampant here in nottingham so i am rather paranoid about my belongings. especially my documents and money. i take them to the toilet even when the toilet's just outside the temporary room that i'm staying at now. basically i keep them with me all the time.

how's school been? i hope it's been ok.

all right i hope this has been a nice surprise! hehheh. hope to use the internet soon. then i can tell you all more stuff. have loads to share. have to go and grab some lunch before taking a trip with everyone down to beeston, which is the nearest little town from the university.

hey pple jus wanted to share w u wat i witness on the mrt today
woah i true display of lack-of-discipline-in-kids-nowadays n true RACISM
felt abit wierd abit it altho we almost joke abt it

as we boarded the nel at outram
aft one or two stops rite
i dad w a boy n a gal
plus n indian lady
plus mani pple walked in

the two kids we realli sickening n noisy la
rolling abt in those wheelies tt might jus crack their skull if they fall backwards
dangling on the handles n stuff
mi n joyce jus stared at each other n shook our heads
the dad was toking loudly on the hp la n didnt tell his kids to shut up

the kids were standing n an indian lady was sitting beside the dad
then suddenly the lady told the kids to keep quiet coz its a public place n they shudnt b making so much noise
i tot the dad wud apologize
but he started ranting n raving at the indian lady lor
telling her to mind her own business
n they started shouting at each other la
the lady says the boy stepped on her toe n didnt apologizethen the dad say u dont "keh keh" la
n i tink he was rather pissed off tt the lady asked him to discipline his kids lor

walau he started chasing the lady away
telling her tt she can sit at sum other place if she dont like it
....
then the train arrived at little india
n the lady alighted but didnt stop quarreling w the dad until she was outside
walau...

the worse thing is tt aft she left all of us were stunned rite
the an ah pek a few seats ways started saying how she damn bu shang the black-skinned
tts wat he called her in dialect la
n he say tt jus coz they haf haf their president up there then they so arrogant
i was damn amused n take aback la

n the dad started chitchatting w him
\n the ah pek kept harping on racial issuses

but the dad later apologized to his row of passengers n told his kids to keep quiet NICELY..
he didnt even scold them lor

n so now we wonder wat happened to young kids nowadays man
n jus look at their parents whu spoil them..
