November Rains

Flea, I'll be home in July it seems. Time'll fly and before we know it, I'll be home again :) The graduation ceremony is about then, and I'll be here till then. I know I shall be missing Nottingham very much and so while I long for the comforts and luxuries of home, this is the time for Nottingham and me.

I resist the fact, from time to time, that I've spent about two years here in England. I think to myself that it'll be nice to have just another year or two on top of this year. But I know if that were the case, I would be taking more of my time here for granted, more like the past two years. Even though I've always made missing home and Southeast Asia a separate issue from my "beyond-the-shores" pursuits.

There's just such a wider world out here. Not that being physically at home grounds us to narrow-mindededness, but that being away from the immediacy of home and familiarity just puts me in that frame of mind. That frame of mind that opens that side of me which is like a fresh new sponge again, soaking in much of what I'm less attuned to at home. And I can't really begin to tell you how much time I've had for self-discovery. It's a blessing as well, that I've made dear friends to keep from Nottingham, although I have comparatively been so much less friendly and outreaching, and perhaps also less deserving, than before.

I do often get the feeling that I haven't made good use of my time, and of our teenage years which whizzed by us so quickly. Then again, the stuff with which I filled up my days and didn't, it's all part of it all, isn't it?

And I hope the part of me in Nottingham never goes away.

cold feet big feet happy feet.

First of all, below are penguins from the up coming movie, Happy Feet. they are sho cute and funny in the "i wanna pinch you" or"i wanna squeeze you" kinda way. muahaha! sadistic yeah?

happy saturday.
bc of the company! (its always abt the company right?)
bc of the food. (comfort food of the gang is kfc i realise!!)
bc of a fantastic movie, STEP UP!

why step up, a seemingly B grade production featuring knowns with names like channing tatum (whom we thot has the name of "one chance" or "one moment to step up") is so enjoyable?

well it is bc of channing-"one chance, one moment to step up"-tatum. hot hot hot! its bc of the girl too. (since when is serene into girls??) and its all abt the groovy dance moves and uppy dance beats that made this such a great weekend chill out movie.

i havent been so upbeat abt a movie for quite long.. maybe tts why today's success was so celebrated. muahaha.

It all began with how i think this penguin looks like my dog. then we went up to the mega poster in front of lido and started laughing at the penguins. it was then when we spotted our individual fav and ended up snapping photos.

This one is for flea bc its the tallest (at the top left hand corner of the poster) and she's not there to choose so we chose it for her.

Huimin loves this penguin. Bc of it, i ended up kneeling at lido taking photos of penguins. she likes the bump on the head. so ah bao lor..

Peiyun got this one bc its in the middle and huimin took the ahbao one and I take the most handsome one..

This spikey hair one is definitely mine!

Then there is a trio!!

This is the cutest penguin. sho cute in the shy wya, like my doggie ah bear! HAHA

winding up EUFF 2006 with... food

before catching the last EUFF 2006 movie (from subway with love) we decided to meet up for dinner at "spizza for friends" (says the signboard). laoda, being the laoda, made a reservation, which i second. but she buay tahan the fact that there was no queue outside when they arrived cuz she wanted to be ushered into the restaurant "glamorous-ly" and beat the long queue, give them the "we are so smart we made a reservation, but you didnt so you have to wait outside, too bad!" look.. maybe throw in a little royalty-like wave.. right? haha.. :) anyway.. dinner wasn't too bad. pizza was nice, but service was qt bad. my sis joined us later to take the place of py who couldnt make it because she had to prepare for her camp, although she was underage. *shh..* then we went for dessert and coffee at the starbucks at vivocity. after a visit to the washroom we hurried into the cinema to find out that the movie had already started. damn! but heck! the movie was one hell of a good laugh and very enjoyable and entertaining in a girly kinda way (refer to "czech (chick) flick!" by serene). met some familiar faces who were watching the movie as well. then we all parted, merrily, as we made our way home. 5 very satisfied GIRLS that night i would say..

thanks a lot for the company and love, you guys! promise to keep this going yea.. :)

signing off.. from felicia (to gang) with love!

constituents of the antipasto huimin and serene ordered before i arrived. ask serene for the names if u want. really enjoyed the ham!

chilli flakes and cheese to go with the pizza

after dinner pose - almost satisfied..

of hands and fingers

hello hello. last night's dinner was indeed a much-needed energiser, at least for me. its just comfroting to meet the dearest frens of my life, laugh over silly things (like my dog) and chill as you watch me fall asleep over dinner. count down with me k? 2 more weeks and all my misery and nightmare will be over. like i predicted, the moment i got home, i just plonked onto my bed and konk out. still tired now :p

finger-guessing: huay! i suppose finger number "ten o'clock" is yours. and i shall be decisive and confident of my answer by only guessing one finger (unlike some-kiasu-body else! heh.)

fwar laoda! got test still blog eh? thanks thanks. i was laughing again at the whole DBDX thingy. i bet only you and me will understand why it is so funny. cos you have to take it in context of how its on NEL, there was this adidas-boy (or is it girl?) who had on adidas shirt, pants and bag. "luckily the shoes are not adidas," huimin said, calling the person "9 lines". that sparked the whole idiot-laugh thingy.

we were also on NEL when we saw a guy with a black shirt saying "gryphons" on his chest. hence me and huimin started singing both the RG and RJ anthem altho we forgot most of the lyrics..!

how did the topic of hands come about uh, laoda?

OH! cos you saw my hands and say i have very small hands actually and suddenly we started comparing. but i insisted that your hands are even smaller. then I said i like big hands on guys. and how recently i have taken to observing guys' hands, as though like an obssession. and i said how hands of a guy is important. how they cant be too smooth, ust be a bit rough, if not very sissy. then laoda says she likes big hands too.

i explain that i like big hands bc i have big boobs, and laoda was like "..but yours hands are small.." i said i dun mind bc its not my hands that will be holding the boobs and she splattered some weird (disguested) mumble and we launched into the hands discussion. and boney fingers.

i said i dun have preference but after pondering i realise how i should, by right, like fat hands bc i like fhunkyguys. and biologically its quite impossible to have a fhunky boy who has thin, small hands with boney fingers. so i dun have a choice.

HAHA why am i writing all these?
but it was funny la. DBDX. omg! and the christmas log cakes and NYE noodles, if i may add, is the terms the japanese coined for women over 25 and 31 - signifying how they have become unwanted bc they are old. (and presumptiously ugly and watever horrid connotation one links to old women la)

ARRRGH i dun wanna be christmas log cake! and NYE noodles!!

hey HUAYU!!!
glad to hear from ya.. loaf looks nicely baked, kinda just outta the oven sitting on the chair :) it's nice to see some sun over at ur side cause most pix i've seen so far kinda had snow in there..

the finger question.. my guess is the one tt belongs to the hand coming from the top left hand side, the next best guess is the one coming from the top.. am i right?

:D yea ur shoes looked pretty.. the wooden flowers and the girl carrying them looked pretty and u guys looked great at the geisha place.. wish i could have a peep at the place too :D

so yea.. i can so imagine u at some quiet corner studying away.. i've been staying out in the medicine library quite abit too these days.. usually to 10pm till it closes before my dad comes round to pick me up..

we met up tonight for dinner.. and coffee.. the 4 of us back here in s'pore..
to gang: I had such a great time.. although we didnt manage to catch my first bigscreen R(A) movie w a lesbian theme w u guys.. but the dinner and tcc thingy was really enjoyable! cant help but miss the best company i receive frm u guys.. just chilling, talking abt our lives and some random funny things.. and enjoying food together..

ok.. promised serene to jot down the funny things tt pop up in our random conversations..
there was the labelling of older women in japan.. right? how women more than 25 years old are called christmas log cake and those more than 31 are called new year's eve noodles.. haa and we so dun wanna be logcakes or noodles rite?
oh something visual came to me.. dont the lines on the log cake look like wrinkles on foreheads/ at the corner of our eyes? haaa noodles are stringy too btw.

then there was the du bi dao. xia.. cause me and serene were discussing wat kinda guy hands we like.. we both like big ones.. then it comes down to the difference btw the meaty ones and the bony ones.. she likes the meaty ones cause they fit her funky spikey (F*T) boy image and i dont mind both.. haaa even the skeletony ones.. but the conversation ended w her saying tt as long as they have hands it's good enough.. so i told her we dont wan du bi dao. xia-s haaa and i'll repeat the "d" "b" "d" sounds to her repeatedly to irritate her like mei-yi-zhang-xiao-lian.. muahaha

oh forgot to tell u all tt a granny of a kidopatient told me tt the patient was waiting for her "P" "A" "P" "A" and i stupidly asked her wat does the acronymn stand for but it actually just meant papa aka daddy..

haaa okie these are really random comments.. gotta go study for test tmr!!
i miss u guys already.. huay esp! take care pple!!
laoda.
over and out

p/s today the origin of the word "mintycloud" was revealed and my gangmates sounded rather shocked, unimpressed and they had the look of disbelief.. muahaha ;D

November

Hello it's been a little quiet on our blog huh. I know I haven't been posting so here are a handful of photos :D

It was Agnes's birthday. We went to TGIF's. Li-Ling and I were doing the constipated-for-a-week look.

For a month. Haha, and by the way she says hi to alllll of you :)

Obviously one of the index fingers is mine. Question is: which? :D Not that hard to guess la. I got pudgy fingers and toes anyway.

One sunny day, I took Cow and Pig to bask on the clothes line in the backyard. My housemates and I did major gardening one weekend.

And Loaf has a special seat since I would have some problems clipping it to the clothesline.

And here are my Mashimaro slippers.

And on the way to getting the bus after exercising at the gym one evening, Jennifer and I picked up a 5-pound note! Cool huh.

Halloween party. I wasn't too keen to turn up so I put together some hotchpotch of a "costume" last minute when I was persuaded by some peer pressure from home. Haha. Was supposed to be kinky cowgirl. In this picture though, I was wearing Denise's pirate hat and using her pirate gun. Heh.

Yup, this is Denise. Haha. She was giving a come-hither look. Her whole get-up was really piratey and cool.

Pravisha, me and the pumpkin that Zhongyong carved.

Shoes! I miss my shoes back home.

The blue shoe’s mine! Haha, and I was just so inclined to buy up the bubblegum glossy pink pair man. So you can see I’ve been pretty girly la :)

Wooden roses! Am giving some away to Liqin for her birthday. And it’s not that it was really late. Just that the sun sets by 530pm these days.

That’s Stefanie and Jennifer flanking me. We were listening to live music at Geisha. I’m quite sure the gang will like the place, especially Huimin. It’s got a Japanese theme and the cocktails are pretty and sweet. The Geisha photographer, who’s Stefanie’s friend, snapped photos of us and loaded them onto the website attached to the photo.

Haha. I wish I had photos of me studying in the library or at this quiet corridor in the School of Law. It's not all fun and games over here you know. But I don't really do those self-taken-of-self-only photos very well (and not like I have a lot of practice). So you all can just imagine me studying very hard at a certain desk ok :)

Oh and there's been a Facebook craze in the UK unis. The program is similar to Friendster but much more well-managed (and intrusive). My account has about 12 friends though, because I have just set it up and I don't go on it very much. Still, if you have time, it's quite fun to check out :)

Ok back to trust law.

czech (chick) flick!

There are a few ingredients that will make a successful feel-good chick flick worth raving about.

First a gorgeous lead actress a la the likes of sandrabullock, who has nice (big, round) boobs - yeah I am intrigued! Although I shall not venture to explain why.. and nice jet black curls. She has to hold a girly job: writer for a woman's magazine and she has to have an airhead best friend who is not so pretty. (to gush about love interest, get drunk with, cry to and drag along to events that need the presence of a third party)

Then a gorgeous lead actor who is sexy, witty yet SNAGy in the "I can't live without our pancakes" kinda way. He has to be considerably (and charmingly) old. But not old enough to be sleeping in a coffin rather than a bed. He can't be tied down, which explains your joy when you ask him to marry you and he actually agrees. He spoils you enough to tolerate your 9038357 bottles of hair conditioners that take up the ledge of his bath tub and he has to beg you for four inches to place a glass of wine and olives soaked in soap. Ultimately he has to love you enough to write you love letter and be loaded enough to buy ad spaces on subway to post copies of them.

You need a cosy apartment with a balcony for your mother to get to know her (would-be) lover next door. You need the same balcony to hang pretty lingerie, take a smoke, wave to visiting loverboy who yaks too much about his phone obssession and ultimately, for the movie to wrap up poignantly at, with snow flakes falling and family (and lovers) gathering for christmas dinner, all through the window by the balcony. Which reminds me, you need CHRISTMAS! carols.. and you need snow. You need them all in Prague, where all the castles show. (oh! I rhyme!)

The film is complete bc the audience left the cinema pondering if the ideal man is a virus that invades a woman's rationalty. And given how december is nearing, the same audience wondered if the right people will be together on christmas eve, as suggested by the film. But I think most importantly the audience, or some of them, felt hopeful at the idea of the feasibility of finding love in an OLD man, which is essential given how some of them might never marry, and even if they do, might be as old as the old man they marry. At least the lack of spikey hair is traded off for wealth and a passionate and touching love letter on the subway.

HAHA!
